YOU CAN BE A PART OF LES AMIS
Meet our Board of Directors
Gaye Moffett, President
Gaye has been on Lac Bernard since she was 6 weeks old. She is a 4th generation Lac Bernarder. Her parents Ross Moffett and Edith Christopher came from cottages on the lake. The original Moffett camp was built in the 1880’s. Ross And Edie met the 1930’s at a coke stand at the intersection of what we know as Regatta Baie Rd and Lac Bernard Road.
Gaye has been a volunteer for 40 years on the Lake. She has been passionate about The Clubhouse for all those years and for all that it stands for, so much so she invested her own money into it purchasing it in the fall of 2021.
She is the President of the Not-for-Profit Friends of Lake Bernard/ Amis du Lac Bernard Board of Directors. She looks forward to meeting old friends and new ones at The Clubhouse this summer and future summer
Stephen Hoogenraad, Secretary
Stephen enjoys spending his summers at the lake with all of his family. Stephen works as a teacher, and volunteers as a coach, and Board member.
Nancy Gilbert
Nancy has been a regular cottager at Lake Bernard since she was 4 years old. She has a law degree (practiced in the Ottawa area and in New Brunswick for many years), then moved into international development work. While obtaining a PhD, Nancy helped set up a US NGO, Transform International, and it’s sister charity in Canada – Transform Internaitonal (Canada). She continues her work mainly in sub-Saharan Africa.
Nancy is married to Paul and they have seven children and 11 grandchildren, all of whom love Lake Bernard.
Peter Muir, Treasurer
Peter first came to the lake in 1952. He married Kathy Brown (whom he met at the lake) in 1969 and became a full-time resident in 1999.
As a volunteer over the years, Peter served as Regatta Chairperson, Treasurer and President of the ORALB (Owners’ and Residents’ Association of Lake Bernard), formerly known as the Lake Bernard Cottagers Association.
Retired for 15 years, it was with some hesitation mixed with a positive feeling from the opportunity to serve that he agreed to take on the role of Treasurer from Melissa Saunders who had worked diligently over the past two years in spite of her continuing illness.
Stacie Sivyer
Stacie grew up in Wakefield and has been a member of the lac Bernard community since her parents bought a cottage on the lake in the mid-80s. She runs the dart league on Monday nights at the clubhouse and spearheads the Les Amies concert in Lascelles in July. As the live music curator at the Rainbow Bistro in Ottawa, Stacie has years of experience running events and activities.
